Epic Games Adds Star Wars and Squid Game IPs

At Unreal Fest 2025, Epic Games announced several updates for Unreal Editor in Fortnite (UEFN), expanding the platform's range of creative tools and content. Among the most notable additions is content from the Netflix series Squid Game, which will be available in UEFN starting June 27. The release coincides with the finale of the show’s second season. This update will give creators access to assets from the series, allowing them to integrate its themes and settings into their custom Fortnite islands.

Epic also revealed that UEFN will receive content from Avatar: The Last Airbender in 2026. Though specific details about these assets were not provided, the announcement signals continued investment in integrating well-known intellectual properties into the Fortnite creation tool. Additionally, Epic Games confirmed that Star Wars assets will be added to UEFN at a later date. These will allow players and developers to build their own stories set in the Star Wars universe, further broadening the platform's narrative capabilities.

Expansion of AI Tools and Features for Creators

During the same keynote, Epic Games highlighted advancements in AI tools available within UEFN. The company introduced the Persona Device, a new feature that will enable creators to build their own AI-powered characters. This follows the recent debut of an AI-enabled Darth Vader character in Fortnite, which uses voice-responsive technology to interact with players. The Persona Device is expected to support more interactive storytelling and gameplay experiences designed by the Fortnite creator community.

Epic also launched the Epic Digital Assistant in beta. This AI-based tool is designed to help users write code in Verse, the programming language used within UEFN. Accessible through the Epic Developer Community site, the assistant allows creators to generate functional scripts using natural language prompts, streamlining the development process and reducing barriers for new developers.

New Tools for Lego Creations in Fortnite

Fortnite’s Lego collaboration is also set to expand. On June 17, the Lego Brick Editor will launch, giving players access to 50 types of classic Lego bricks in 42 different colors. This new tool will allow for brick-by-brick construction of custom islands and content. It represents a continuation of Epic’s strategy to provide a wide array of tools that encourage detailed and personalized builds within Fortnite.

Continued Growth of the UEFN Ecosystem

Since UEFN launched in 2023, the platform has seen substantial engagement. Epic Games reported that players have spent over 11.2 billion hours on more than 260,000 user-created islands. In addition to strong user activity, the platform has also produced significant economic outcomes for creators, with over $722 million paid out since launch. These figures underscore the scale and sustainability of the creative ecosystem that has developed around UEFN.

Epic Games’ latest announcements confirm its ongoing commitment to supporting the Fortnite creative community through the integration of well-known IPs, the introduction of new features, and the development of advanced tools. As UEFN continues to evolve, it remains a central hub for user-generated content in the broader gaming space.
