Gamee, part of Animoca Brands’ hypercasual gaming ecosystem, has experienced a notable increase in activity since moving into the web3 space. Initially, Gamee ran its games on the social app Telegram, but recent developments have significantly boosted its engagement.
One key factor in this growth is the migration of Gamee’s GMEE token to Ethereum. This move was necessary after a $15 million hack on Polygon in early 2024. However, a more significant driver has been the rapid growth in activity on Telegram’s integrated TON blockchain, which allows users to create non-custodial wallets easily.
With the TON token now among the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market cap and the success of other meme gaming projects like Notcoin and Hamster Kombat, Telegram offers a strong platform for Gamee to expand its blockchain gaming presence. The Wat Project has capitalized on this, attracting over 2 million TON wallets.
The Wat Protocol by Gamee
The Wat Protocol allows users to earn WatPoints by staking GMEE tokens on Ethereum, mining on Telegram, and playing Gamee’s Arc8 mini-games. This system has proven popular, driving significant wallet creation and user engagement.
In its latest development, Gamee has unveiled Episode 4 of the Wat Project. This update expands the reward system to include NFT holders from collections like Mocaverse, Space Doodles, Grapes, San FranTokyo, Pudgy Penguins, and Gamee's Arc8 Beasts. NFT holders who connect their wallets will see an increase in their WatPoints as more users join the network.
Participating NFT Collections
“With 80 million people across the ecosystem — GMEE token holders, Telegram players, and Arc8 players — we figured it’s about time we connected them and rewarded everybody all at once," Gamee stated in their official announcement on X (formerly Twitter).
Gamee’s ongoing efforts to integrate blockchain technology and reward its community highlight its commitment to innovation in the web3 gaming industry. As the Wat Protocol continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how Gamee leverages these advancements to further enhance user engagement and expand its reach in the web3 space.
