Diversion, a version control platform often described as the “GitHub for game development,” has raised a total of $12 million in funding. The latest round, a seed+ financing of $4.5 million, was led by Konvoy. The platform is designed specifically for large-scale game development and other creative projects that require handling substantial file sizes and complex workflows. The new funding will be used to grow the company’s team and enhance support for larger studios.
Diversion Secures $12 Million in Funding
The platform aims to address challenges faced by creative teams, such as game developers, who need to collaborate efficiently while managing large files and scaling their workflows. According to Diversion, the platform is currently used by around 15,000 game developers, with the user base increasing by approximately 20 percent each month. The company plans to expand its reach in important markets and further develop its product to accommodate triple-A studios and larger projects.
In an interview with GamesBeat Sasha Medvedovsky, CEO of Diversion, commented on the recent funding, highlighting the efforts of the engineering team in building a version control system tailored to the needs of large-scale game development and creative industries. Medvedovsky noted that user feedback has played a key role in shaping the platform’s development roadmap. The funding will support continued investment in user experience improvements, workflow enhancements, and ecosystem expansion to establish Diversion as a primary platform for creative collaboration.
Jackson Vaughan, managing partner at Konvoy, expressed confidence in Diversion’s solution for game developers and creative professionals. He pointed out that version control has been a persistent challenge for teams working with large 3D assets, and existing tools often fall short of meeting these needs. Vaughan described Diversion’s approach as a fundamentally improved and more elegant solution for both developers and artists. Konvoy, along with other investors such as New Era and Y Combinator, is supporting the company as it continues to develop tools for game developers and creative industries at large.
With the recent funding injection, Diversion is positioned to advance its platform and better serve the needs of creative teams managing complex projects and large data sets. The company aims to improve collaboration, streamline workflows, and expand its presence among major game studios and creative enterprises. This funding round represents an important milestone for Diversion as it works to build a specialized version control system suited to the unique demands of the creative sector.
