Delabs, led by former Nexon CEO Joonmo Kwon and backed by game developer 4:33, has initiated its airdrop campaign to expand its player base and enhance ecosystem engagement. The campaign's phase one, currently underway, invites players to accumulate points in the lawnmower racer game Rumble Racing Star (RRS).
In this article, we will cover everything you need to know about Delabs' airdrop campaign, how participants can earn points in Rumble Racing Star (RRS), and collect star badges for exclusive valuable rewards, including $GAME tokens. We will also cover the company's recent $12 million funding round to build three blockchain-based games.
Delabs, known as the web3 arm of South Korean game studio 4:33, is not solely focused on Rumble Racing Star (RRS). The company is actively working on other projects, including their successful NFT mint of the dystopian RPG Metabolts which occurred on February 26th. Additionally, Delabs is in the development stages of the Unreal shooter Space Frontier.
Delabs recently closed a funding round, bringing its total raised to $12 million to date. The achievement comes after Delabs' much-anticipated kart racing game, Rumble Racing Star, passed a successful invite-only playtest. The team also recently released their whitepaper v1 and teased their $DELABS token launch.
Polygon Ventures, an investor in Delabs, expressed confidence in the company's vision, stating: "The team is combining traditional gameplay with the dynamic potential of web3."
Having previously secured $4.7 million in seed funding, led by Hashed, Delabs is positioned to expand its footprint in the web3 gaming space. The company's portfolio includes the three aforementioned titles in development: Rumble Racing Star (RRS), Space Frontier, and Metabolts – each catering to diverse gaming preferences and audiences.
Delabs's design philosophy prioritizes wide audience appeal, cross-platform compatibility, and the cultivation of a vibrant esports ecosystem. The integration of web3 elements is seamless, ensuring players don't need to download any additional wallets.
Comprising industry veterans, including those who contributed to Nexon's hit game Kart Rider, Delabs seeks to recreate that magic in their upcoming titles. The emphasis on inclusivity is evident in Rumble Racing Star (RRS), featuring expressive characters, humor-infused weapons, and a visually lighter style compared to traditional racing games like Mario Kart.
In Rumble Racing Star (RRS), players can race with their NFTs, each possessing unique abilities. Space Frontier and Metabolts offer players creative control, allowing them to shape aspects of the game such as items, modes, and levels.
Players can earn points and collect star badges through daily and weekly missions within Rumble Racing Star (RRS), all contributing to RRS points. These RRS points will then be converted to Leaf Points at a ratio of 1:3.
Moreover, participants can accrue additional points by performing daily check-ins if they hold Adventure Pass NFTs or Metabolts NFTs. Furthermore, players will receive rewards in Delabs' upcoming $GAME token, slated for release in June 2024.
The airdrop campaign marks a significant milestone for Delabs as it seeks to foster community engagement and anticipation for its forthcoming $GAME token release, promising an immersive gaming experience for players worldwide.
In a recent interview, Kwon emphasized the disruptive potential of web3 games, highlighting the success of Delabs Adventure Pass as the company's first mint. This pass aims to unite all Delabs games, enhancing player experiences across titles with various benefits.
Kwon said he "envisions web3 games as a solution to challenges in traditional gaming, providing players with lasting digital assets, fostering loyalty, and creating a sustainable relationship between players and gaming companies."
As a flagship partner of Polygon, Delabs aims to make significant strides in advancing the web3 gaming industry. Urvit Goel, head of global business development at Polygon Labs, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating that Delabs, with Polygon's technology, is poised to attract and engage millions of new players, fostering a thriving community for secure, seamless, and immersive gaming experiences.
