Delabs Games, a web3 gaming studio focused on AI-enhanced gameplay, has announced the completion of a $5.2 million Series A funding round. The Series A round attracted support from a broad range of investors in the gaming and web3 industries. Institutional participants included IVC, Taisu Ventures, Arche Fund (Coin98), Yield Guild Games (YGG), Everyrealm, and Jets Capital. The round also saw participation from individual and strategic contributors such as NFT collector Dingaling, digital asset investor Grail, and gaming accelerator Liquid X. Other notable backers included Gabby Dizon, cofounder of YGG, and Johnson Yeh, founder of Ambrus Studio.

Focus on AI Game Development

The new funding will be used to further develop AI-powered web3 games through the company’s proprietary platform, Verse8, which serves as a foundation for AI-generated gameplay experiences. Delabs Games also plans to use the funds to grow its global development team, expand its player community, and support the launch of upcoming titles.

The company is co-led by Joonmo Kwon, the former CEO of Nexon and a veteran in South Korea’s gaming sector, and JC Kim, cofounder of blockchain gaming company Planetarium Labs, who joined as co-CEO earlier this month. Together, they are steering the company toward developing games that integrate player ownership with AI-driven interaction models.

Growing Portfolio and Player Engagement

The Series A funding follows the studio’s earlier progress, including a $12 million raise as of March 2024. This earlier capital supported the invite-only playtest of Rumble Racing Star, one of Delabs’ first major titles. The company’s most recent release, Boxing Star X, is approaching 2 million users worldwide. It also achieved a top 10 ranking on DappRadar, outperforming established web3 games such as Axie Infinity.

Delabs is also preparing for the launch of its upcoming title, Ragnarok Libre, which has already surpassed 100,000 pre-registrations ahead of its release. This continued user interest highlights the company’s ability to build and maintain momentum within the competitive web3 gaming market.
