Swedish game developer Crypto Rogue Games has confirmed a new release date for the open beta of its hack-and-slash RPG Crystalfall, now set for December 13th. Originally planned for an earlier date, the open beta was pushed back due to a scheduling overlap with the early access release of Path of Exile 2 by Grinding Gear Games. This delay marks a strategic move to ensure Crystalfall’s open beta receives maximum player engagement without coinciding with the popular Path of Exile sequel launch on December 6th.
In response to the scheduling conflict, Crypto Rogue Games CEO Åke André remarked on the importance of timing in reaching players, saying, “We decided to change the date for the open beta since Path of Exile 2 ended up on the same date as us when they delayed. It almost felt personal that they changed the date,” adding a lighthearted nod toward Grinding Gear Games.
Crystalfall Open Beta Coming to Epic Games Store
Previously known as Crystals of Naramunz, Crystalfall invites players into a unique steampunk RPG world marked by the chaos of an asteroid strike that shattered the landscape and scattered crystal shards across the terrain. Players navigate this hazardous world through a series of dungeon-based challenges, where strength and strategy are required to face powerful enemies.
In Crystalfall, players have access to deep customization options that allow them to tailor characters to specific playstyles. The game emphasizes individual approaches to combat, with an extensive itemization system and lootable skills embedded within randomized skill trees, making each gameplay experience distinct. The open beta’s free-to-play model is designed to attract a broad audience eager for a new take on RPG action.
Crystalfall Key Art
Ahead of the December 13th launch, Crypto Rogue Games announced a new partnership with Razer Gold. Through this collaboration, Crystalfall players purchasing supporter packs with Razer Gold will gain access to exclusive in-game items. This partnership aims to enhance player experience with unique rewards, promoting Crystalfall’s open beta debut.
As excitement builds toward the open beta release, players can already engage with Crystalfall by wishlisting it on the Epic Games Store, where the latest trailer showcases the game’s distinctive steampunk aesthetic and immersive RPG elements. While the open beta offers a preview of the full game, Crystalfall is expected to officially launch in 2025, providing further opportunities for expansion and refinement.
