Cambria Gold Rush Season 2, titled The Paymasters, officially began on April 11 and is set to run for 14 days. The game, accessible through web browsers, offers players an opportunity to participate in a web3-enabled massively multiplayer online (MMO) experience focused on high-risk exploration and reward-based gameplay. Players can earn various digital assets, including USDC and airdrop points, by engaging with the game’s economic systems and combat mechanics.
Cambria Gold Rush Season 2 Goes Live
Cambria Gold Rush is a top-down 2D MMO where players explore a fantasy world in search of valuable resources. Starting from the central hub of Capital City, players venture into surrounding PvPvE zones to locate and extract corrupted loot such as Artifacts, Curios, and Gems. These items can be traded in at the Royal Treasury with Ser Althus to earn in-game currencies called Coins and Royal Favor. These currencies play a key role in determining each player's share of the seasonal prize pool, which is composed of USDC and other digital rewards.
While Cambria Gold Rush is available to try for free, full participation in the play-to-earn model requires the minting of a Royal Charter, priced at 0.02 ETH or roughly 53 RON. Free players begin with 30,000 Energy, which depletes as gameplay continues. Once Energy runs out, further participation is restricted unless the player upgrades by purchasing a Charter or receiving a sponsorship from a guild. Energy is essential for performing actions such as battling monsters or gathering resources, and it is replenished daily for Charter holders.

Cambria Season 2 introduces a new class to the game known as the Paymasters. This class is oriented toward passive participation in the game’s economic structure rather than active gameplay. Paymasters contribute to the Syndicate Vault by depositing Royal Charters, which are then converted into Syndicate Shares on a one-to-one basis. These shares are non-withdrawable and entitle holders to a portion of the earnings generated through gameplay by other participants.
The Paymasters class introduces two main forms of taxation. A New Charter Tax of 25 percent is applied when a new Royal Charter is minted, with the proceeds distributed among Syndicate Share holders. A separate Solo Cash-In Tax of 15 percent is applied whenever individual players exchange their collected loot for Coins or Royal Favor. Certain players and guilds are exempt from these taxes. For example, Founder NFT holders enjoy a limited exemption from the cash-in tax, and the top 15 guilds also benefit from full exemption. Other guilds pay a reduced rate of 5 percent.
This new system allows users to choose between active gameplay and passive investment. Players who deposit a Charter into the Syndicate Vault may opt to allocate it either for Guild Sponsorship or to receive Syndicate Shares and participate in the tax-based earnings model.

Cambria Season 2 offers a range of rewards for participating players. The main prize pool is composed of USDC and is funded through ETH and RON spent within the game. To qualify for a share of this prize pool, players must accumulate Coins by exchanging in-game loot. The prize pool distribution is primarily based on Coins held, with additional allocations reserved for bug bounty contributions and content creator or referral participation. Players must have earned at least the equivalent of 10 USDC to be eligible for cashout.
Beyond the main pool, players can also earn Royal Favor, which contributes to their standing on the Points Leaderboard. Higher leaderboard rankings yield Bribes, which are loot crates that contain airdrop points known as Trinkets and Land Raffle Tickets. These items can later be redeemed for future rewards, including entries into a planned Lands NFT collection. The season is expected to distribute over $1 million worth of airdrop rewards, further incentivizing participation.
Players can also accumulate Abstract XP weekly. This is influenced by several factors, including the amount of Royal Favor earned, the number of Trinkets collected, the total Charters minted, and the number of Energy Orbs purchased. Energy Orbs are purchasable items that provide additional Energy, capped at eight orbs per day through a toxicity system that discourages excessive farming.

Shortly after Season 2 launched, the game's developer reported that the prize pool had already surpassed $300,000, outpacing the pool from Season 1. This figure reflects both player engagement and investment within the game, suggesting increasing interest in the play-to-earn mechanics and the broader web3 infrastructure supporting the title.
Cambria Gold Rush continues to evolve with each new season, introducing economic roles, in-game mechanics, and community-driven incentives.
