Cambria Expands to Abstract Chain Ahead of Season 2 Launch

Cambria, the browser-based risk-to-earn massively multiplayer online (MMO) game, is expanding its presence to the Abstract Chain, adding it as a supported blockchain alongside Ronin and Blast. This move comes ahead of the game’s highly anticipated Season 2 release, making Abstract Chain the third blockchain network to be integrated into the game. The expansion aims to increase the game’s accessibility, allowing more players within the web3 community to join the experience.

More About Cambria

Cambria is a web3-enabled MMO set in a top-down fantasy world, where players can engage in various activities such as resource collection, crafting, and combat. The game incorporates on-chain stakes, meaning players can earn and stake rewards while participating in different in-game events. Central to the experience is "Gold Rush," which allows players to gather resources through various professions such as fishing, mining, or woodcutting. These resources are crucial for crafting equipment and supplies necessary for exploring dangerous open-world dungeons.

In these dungeons, players face both player versus environment (PvE) challenges, such as fighting fantasy monsters, as well as player versus player (PvP) competition. As the dungeons are filled with valuable loot, other players may attempt to steal the treasures, adding an element of risk to exploration. Another feature of the game is the Duel Arena, where players can wager cryptocurrency to fight in intense one-on-one battles. This PvP arena is likely to be part of the rewards system for Season 2, with Abstract XP being the new form of in-game currency.

Originally built on the Blast network, Cambria later became one of the seven web3 games to join the Ronin Forge program in September 2024. This allowed the game to expand its player base with the first season running on both Blast and Ronin. As of December 2024, the community was able to mint Cambria Cores on the Ronin network, and these NFTs can be staked to earn Shards, which can then be used to mint Companions—intelligent in-game followers that are also tradable as NFTs.

Upcoming Changes in Cambria’s Season 2

Season 2 of Cambria is expected to launch in late February or early March 2025, and it will feature significant upgrades to the game’s economic model. One of the most notable additions is the introduction of "gamble dungeons," which will require players to obtain expensive keys for a chance at earning valuable rewards. This feature is expected to add a new layer of risk and strategy to the game’s content, as players navigate dangerous dungeons for the chance at high-stakes loot.

In addition to gamble dungeons, other changes are being made to improve gameplay. For example, the game is expected to feature fewer grind-heavy mechanics, with an emphasis on more event-based activities. One such event is the Duel Arena, which is likely to become more focused on weekend events or game nights hosted by Abstract streamers. Players can expect to earn Abstract XP as rewards for participating in these events.

Multi-Chain Support: Joining Abstract

It is important to note that the latest news does not involve a migration of existing players or their assets. Instead, Cambria is adding Abstract Chain as a new option for players, expanding its multi-chain support. This decision builds on the game’s previous success on both the Ronin and Blast networks. To date, the game has recorded over $130 million in-game volume and attracted more than 100,000 players. By opening the game up to a newly launched chain that has been described as the "number one consumer chain," Cambria aims to broaden its player base even further.

The addition of Abstract Chain does not require any migration process for existing players. Those already playing on Ronin or Blast will continue to access the game on those chains as usual. However, the option to play on the Abstract Chain will soon be available, offering greater flexibility for players who prefer this network. Details on whether this new integration will come with any exclusive offers or in-game incentives are still unknown, but players are encouraged to stay updated for more information as the game prepares for the launch of its second season.

Final Thoughts

With its expansion to Abstract Chain, Cambria continues to enhance its multi-chain MMO experience, offering players greater flexibility and a wider range of blockchain options. The game’s upcoming Season 2 promises to deliver new features and updates that will refine the gameplay and provide more opportunities for player engagement. As the game progresses with the addition of Abstract Chain, it further solidifies its position as a prominent title within the growing world of web3 gaming.
