Axie Origins Season 12 Launches with 90K AXS Rewards
Axie Infinity Origins is a card-based strategy game where players collect, own, and use an infinite variety of creatures called Axies to battle. Players can take down evil Chimeras in the Adventure mode or challenge other players in the Arena to reach the top of the Leaderboard. The web3 game is free to download and play on Android, PC, and MacOS devices.
Three free non-NFT starter axies are available for everyone to utilize, enjoy, and get more acquainted with the game, with more available to be unlocked by playing the game. Starter axies are available to allow new players the opportunity to play Axie Infinity without first having to purchase axies. This allows users to test the product with absolutely no strings attached.
To mark the grand opening of Ronin, all Axie Origins players will receive a special in-game reward. Over the next few days, players can claim the exclusive Jin avatar through in-game mail. Jin is a celestial guardian within the Ronin ecosystem, representing unity and resilience. This limited-time avatar allows players to showcase their involvement in the Ronin revolution while competing in the arena.

A new daily Axie Check-In feature has been introduced, allowing players to earn points by checking in with their axies. These points can be exchanged in the shop for Runes, Charm Boxes, and Crafting Materials. Delegated axies can also be used for check-ins, providing additional utility for collectible axies within the game. Higher-tier collectibles, such as Agamogenesis, Mystic, and Origins axies, earn additional Elite Check-In Points, which can be redeemed for exclusive items. Additionally, rewards previously associated with collectible Runes and Charms have been moved to the Axie Check-In system, increasing the total claimable rewards for collectible axie holders.
Shop Updates: Rare Runes and Charms
Gauntlet Mode returns during the Epic Era of Season 12 with several changes aimed at improving accessibility and gameplay variety. The entry fee has been adjusted to use two Stamina per run instead of SLP, allowing more players to participate. Buff mechanics have also been reworked, introducing a set of global buffs that apply throughout the match. Some of these buffs provide stat increases or additional effects based on in-game conditions, while others introduce randomized elements to battles.
Alongside buffs, new rules have been implemented to add unpredictability to Gauntlet Mode. These include shuffling axie positions at the start of the match, applying various effects to all axies, and modifying card draw mechanics. Players will also earn Gauntlet Points instead of SLP, which can be redeemed in the shop for crafting materials, choice boxes, AXP boosters, and Luck Dice, which allow rerolling buffs.

To improve accessibility to higher-level Runes, the upgrade cost for Mystic Level 2 to Level 3 Runes has been reduced from three to two. This change is intended to help players strengthen their teams more efficiently. In addition, Season 12 introduces various balancing updates to refine gameplay mechanics and competitive fairness. Players who missed the preseason adjustments can review the full changelog to understand the latest changes.
Players holding collectible axies have an opportunity to earn additional rewards. Those who finish the Rare Era at a rank of Dragon or higher while maintaining ownership of their collectible axie throughout the era will receive Collectible Chests. These chests contain Tickets that can be redeemed for AXS.
Axie Origins has continued to evolve since its launch in 2022, with multiple seasons bringing gameplay enhancements and new opportunities for competition. Season 12 represents a stage of stability for the game, with no major overhauls planned. Instead, the focus remains on refining the arena experience while maintaining the core mechanics that players have come to enjoy. With new rewards, game modes, and features, players can look forward to an engaging competitive season ahead.
