The update was released ahead of the upcoming launch of Atia’s Legacy, the massively multiplayer online (MMO) game set in the Axie universe. This scoring system plays a foundational role in how influence is distributed among players, also known as Lunacians, by assessing their contributions and engagement across various aspects of the platform.

Originally launched in 2024, the Axie Score is a metric that evaluates player activity across four main areas: axie NFT ownership, treasury contributions, community involvement, and in-game performance. These components are individually weighted and contribute to a player's overall score. A higher Axie Score grants players greater influence in platform governance, including participation in treasury-related decision-making.

The recent update introduces revised scoring logic and a new interface for easier score tracking. It also adds four new badges that reflect specific contributions. For example, players receive the “Marketplace Fee Contribution” badge based on the amount of ETH generated through trading fees, while voters in the AIP-0001 proposal receive the “First Proposal Voter” badge with a substantial point value. These badges now serve a dual purpose: recognizing individual actions and contributing directly to the overall score.

Role of the Axie Score Committee

Decisions regarding badge values and score weightings are made by the Axie Score Committee, which includes selected community members and contributors. The Sky Mavis engineering team handles the technical implementation, but the authority to define scoring metrics remains with the committee. This structure reflects an effort to ensure that governance power is guided by the player base rather than by the developer team alone.

The updated badge system integrates with each user’s Lunalog profile, where all badges, their categories, point values, number of holders, and leaderboard status are visible. Based on their score bracket, users receive designations such as “Lunacian” or “Mythkeeper,” indicating their level of contribution and standing within the gaming ecosystem.

Future Use Cases and Integration with Atia’s Legacy

While the Axie Score currently focuses on governance, Sky Mavis has indicated that future applications are being considered. These may include benefits such as early access to new games, adjustments to AXS staking rewards, and in-game perks. Although no timeline has been confirmed for these additions, the system has been designed with flexibility in mind, allowing for expansion as the platform evolves. The release of the updated Axie Score system comes at a critical time, as Sky Mavis prepares for the first playtests of Atia’s Legacy.

The MMO will introduce a persistent digital world featuring social coordination, territory defense, and resource-based gameplay. Governance elements within the game may directly connect to the Axie Score, giving higher-scoring players more decision-making visibility and potential influence over in-game dynamics. Atia’s Legacy has already attracted over 17.2 million pre-registrations. Two playtests are scheduled before the end of 2025, and the Axie Score system is positioned as a long-term tool for tracking and rewarding consistent participation.
