Axie Classic Competitive Season 8 is now live, offering players the opportunity to engage in strategic battles and earn rewards until March 31st. This season introduces several new features, including updated card mechanics, the return of Smooth Love Potion (SLP) as a prize, and a revamped reward system. Players who compete in the arena can win AXS, SLP, and Rough Love Potion ($RLP), a community-created memecoin, adding additional incentives to participate.
The season will run for three weeks, with Mini-Tournaments extending for four weeks from March 11th to April 8th. The top 16 players at the end of the season will qualify for the Season Championship, where they will compete for a 3,000 AXS prize pool. The winner of the championship will also earn a place in the Axie Classic World Cup, further raising the stakes for competitive players.
Axie Infinity Classic Competitive Season 8 Begins
Season 8 introduces 66 new Level 2 cards, expanding strategic possibilities within the game. These new cards will be featured in the Cursed Coliseum mode, where each cursed card will have two potential transformations, creating up to eight possible options during gameplay. This update is designed to add depth and variety to battles, ensuring that players have new tactics to explore.
The introduction of Gear mechanics is another key update this season. Players can now equip, upgrade, and craft Gear in Classic battles, enhancing their Axies' abilities. Two main types of Gear are available: Speed Gear, which increases Speed while reducing Morale, and HP Gear, which increases HP while reducing Skill. However, Gear will not be available in the Cursed Coliseum, and specific restrictions will apply to prevent conflicts in team setups.
A new Reputation UI has also been added to track player performance and impact reward opportunities. The Reputation system consists of four tiers—Unknown, Familiar, Distinguished, and Honored—each affecting the likelihood of obtaining an SLP Chest. Players can increase their Reputation by participating in daily and weekly activities, performing well in various game modes, and maintaining fair play.
Axie Infinity Classic Competitive Season 8 Summary
With the return of SLP as a prize, Season 8 offers new ways to earn rewards. Players can now receive SLP Chests through Mini-Tournament battles, with drop rates influenced by factors such as Arena rankings, Cursed Coliseum victories, and Reputation levels. The top 100 players will also receive a share of an 8 million $RLP reward pool, in addition to AXS and SLP rewards.
To create a more balanced system, adjustments have been made to the Golden Wheel. AXS and SLP will no longer be available as direct rewards from the wheel, with these prizes being reallocated to Mini-Tournaments and SLP Chests instead. The Mini-Tournament prize pool will be capped at 700 AXS per day, and SLP funding will now support SLP Chests. Players will also find new reward options, such as Gems and Dust, replacing the removed AXS and SLP slots.
Guild gameplay has also seen changes, with Guild Points earned from Guild Vault Support being removed. This decision aims to make milestones more meaningful and maintain fair competition on the Guild Leaderboard. The update encourages more strategic participation and ensures that leaderboard rankings reflect active gameplay rather than accumulated points from vault contributions.
Axie Infinity Classic Competitive Season 8 Card Collections
The Season 8 Championship will follow a double elimination format, with the top 16 players from the season competing for a 3,000 AXS prize pool. Participants will be required to submit 13 Axies, and a drafting phase before each match will allow players to ban four Axies from their opponents’ teams. Matches will be conducted in a Best-of-Five (BO5) format, while the final championship match will follow a Best-of-Seven (BO7) structure.
The overall prize pool for the season exceeds 35,000 AXS, distributed across various categories, including the Guild Leaderboard, Season Champion prizes, Guild Milestone rewards, and daily Mini-Tournament prizes. These rewards are designed to encourage participation at all levels, from casual players to highly competitive contenders.
Season 8 Championship
Season 8 marks a significant stage in Axie Classic’s progression, incorporating new gameplay mechanics and refining reward structures. With new cards, Gear utility, Reputation tracking, and competitive incentives, this season aims to offer an engaging experience for both new and veteran players.
As Axie Classic continues to evolve, it remains a foundational part of the Axie Infinity ecosystem. Recent developments, including a gameplay trailer for Atia’s Legacy, indicate a broader vision for the game’s future. Season 8 reflects this ongoing growth, reinforcing Axie Classic’s position within the expanding web3 gaming landscape. Players are encouraged to take part in the competition, refine their strategies, and make the most of the rewards available this season.
