In a surprising development, the Aptos blockchain experienced a significant increase in daily transactions, rising by 1,466% within just three days. This surge is primarily due to the new clicker game Tapos, which has drawn substantial user activity.
The 7-day moving average of user transactions on Aptos reached 47 million at the end of May, a significant increase from under 1 million at the start of the month. On a single day, transactions peaked at 156 million.
New Game Tapos on Aptos Blockchain
Tapos is a new blockchain-based game that blends earning opportunities with the engaging experience of interacting with virtual pets, specifically cats, on the Aptos blockchain. By leveraging user interactions with virtual cats, Tapos generates HEART tokens, combining entertainment with earning potential.
Tapos aims to enhance blockchain engagement and showcase the technical capabilities of the Aptos network. Its objectives extend beyond mere entertainment, seeking to attract users who might not typically engage with blockchain technology. By integrating game mechanics with token earnings, Tapos highlights the scalability and transaction capabilities of the Aptos blockchain.
Tickle to Earn HEART Tokens
Tapos features a simple mechanic: players interact with the game by clicking on virtual cats, earning HEART tokens with each click. This interaction not only accumulates tokens for the players but also contributes to a global tally, fostering a sense of community and collective effort among participants. The global tally is accessible via the Leaderboard tab on the homepage.
To start playing Tapos, users can click on "Start Now" on the Tapos homepage, which automatically generates a wallet. It's crucial to copy and securely store the secret key to restore the wallet if necessary. Players need to transfer APT tokens to the wallet address to cover network fees, with 0.1 APT enabling approximately 10,000 clicks on the virtual cats.
Aptos Blockchain: 182 Million Tokens
The recent increase in transactions is tied to Tapos, a clicker game that records a transaction with each click. Players tickle a virtual cat and earn HEART tokens, paying a small gas fee of about 0.000008 APT per transaction—less than one-hundredth of a cent. The more clicks a player makes, the more tokens they can earn.
This game structure led to a high number of transactions. The 7-day moving average of active addresses on Aptos also grew from 61,000 in early May to over 150,000 by the end of the month, coinciding with the game’s launch.
Data from The Block: User Transactions on Aptos
The Tapos campaign ended on May 26th, after generating over 323 million transactions and attracting more than 63,000 users in a few days. Following the campaign’s conclusion, transaction numbers have started to decline, but the game's impact on the Aptos network highlights the blockchain’s potential.
Tapos showcases the strengths of the Aptos network, particularly its ability to handle high transaction volumes with low fees. This example demonstrates Aptos' capability to support innovative applications, which could lead to further growth and adoption in the blockchain space.
