Appcharge Launches Mobile Checkout

Mobile direct-to-consumer platform Appcharge has rolled out a new Checkout solution aimed at improving revenue for mobile game publishers. The product is designed to reduce friction in the payment process and increase conversion at the most critical points in the monetisation funnel.

The Checkout adapts to each player’s context, including their location, device, operating system, currency, and purchase history. It also differentiates between first-time and returning buyers, prioritizing payment methods from more than 500 local options. Returning players are guided toward the payment method that previously succeeded, streamlining the overall experience and making transactions faster.

Early Performance and Conversion Results

According to Appcharge, early data from the Checkout indicates conversion rates of up to 92%, with order success rates exceeding 95%. The platform achieves this through optimised payment routing and automatic recovery from failed transactions. This approach aims to make the payment process smoother for players while maximising revenue for publishers.

Integration with Merchant of Record Services

The Checkout is part of Appcharge’s Merchant of Record platform, which handles essential functions such as compliance, tax management, currency conversion, fraud prevention, disputes, refunds, and customer support. The platform reportedly achieves dispute win rates of 60% to 70%, which is higher than the industry average of 30% to 40%. This allows publishers to focus on game development while relying on Appcharge to manage payment-related risks and operations.

Fanny Beili, Appcharge VP of Product, explained the rationale behind the product: “The checkout is the funnel’s most critical moment, where user experience takes priority. Building trust, reducing friction, and making the best payment options easy to access are all crucial factors in helping players complete the purchase.”

By focusing on mobile-first payments and context-sensitive features, Appcharge aims to provide a seamless experience for players while strengthening direct-to-consumer revenue streams for mobile games.
