Built on the Base network, M8 aims to reward active players with points that can be used for various in-game features. These points are recorded on-chain and are expected to play a significant role in unlocking new content within the game.

According to the official announcement, M8 Points will eventually be used to access various in-game features. These include the ability to unlock new magical spells, acquire cosmetic upgrades such as chess pieces, boards, and backgrounds, and open lootboxes. Some lootboxes are expected to contain elemental drops like Fire, Water, and Earth, and others may include the upcoming $C token. This token is linked to Checkmate Foundation’s Genius Score system and will be distributed through an airdrop to eligible players.

Players must manually claim their M8 Points using the claim feature located at the top section of the game interface. Unclaimed points will expire if not collected before the beginning of the next cycle, making it important for players to return and claim their rewards daily.

Once the claim is made, the Anichess team processes the data and publishes the earned points on-chain. This process can take a few hours, and updates are shared via the game's official communication channels.

For players who were active during Anichess Season 3, which marked the public alpha launch of the game in partnership with Yield Guild Games, all previously earned on-chain points have been automatically converted to M8 Points. This transition required no additional action from players, ensuring that their progress carried over into the new system.

Players can sign in using a variety of options, including Google, Discord, X, Facebook, Chess.com, MetaMask, WalletConnect, and Coinbase Wallet. Using a social sign-in will automatically create a wallet through Web3Auth, removing the need for any separate wallet setup.
