Alien Worlds developer Dacoco has launched its first NFT-based comic, "Starblind," in collaboration with LightningWorks and support from Galactic Hubs. The collection comprises 10,000 comics with unique hand-drawn designs deployed on Polygon, utilizing blockchain for each cartoon character, image, or page to become a unique NFT.

Alien Worlds co-founder Saro McKenna emphasized, "Following the tradition of Marvel, DC Comics, and Star Wars, the next great storytelling franchise will be born from a community – not from a corporation."

Play-to-Earn

Alien Worlds is a play-to-earn game built on the WAX blockchain. It features a universe of six worlds, each with 500 land plots. Every plot is player-owned and represented by an NFT. Players can mine Trilium in-game, transfer it to Binance Smart Chain, and earn more Trilium through a staking system. Alien Worlds also features a player-run Planetary DAO system that works to expand the Alien Worlds ecosystem.

To enhance the collector experience, the inaugural edition of "Starblind" introduces key features:

  • Mystery Package: Comics are packaged in opaque bags, revealing the title and issue number while keeping rarity undisclosed.
  • Tiers: Unpacking discloses the tier, ranging from Common to Legendary, with each tier about 50% rarer than the preceding one.
  • Forging Mechanism: Additional tiers can be obtained through Forging, combining two comics of the same tier. Galactic Hubs offers a $500 mining tool for a lucky Apocalyptic-tier comic forger.
  • Unique Cover Designs: Each cover showcases up to four characters with varying rare traits, including weapons, clothing, hairstyles, and more.
  • Ultra Rare Cover: 3% of users have a chance to acquire an ultra-rare cover.

Priced at $3 each, the NFT comics are available for purchase through popular chat apps like WhatsApp or Telegram. Users receive an integrated wallet within these apps, allowing them the option to keep the comic or transfer it to their Metamask wallet.

Geoff McCabe, founder of LightningWorks, expressed enthusiasm, stating, "Our aim is to ignite community enthusiasm around both the innovative technology and the captivating narrative we’re crafting. This first edition is a pioneering venture, using groundbreaking technologies exclusive to LightningWorks and Alien Worlds to forge a new path for the future of comics."

Web3 Gaming

In a broader context, these developments hold particular relevance to the realm of web3 gaming. The integration of blockchain and NFTs in "Starblind" showcases the potential for interactive and decentralized experiences within the gaming community. As web3 gaming continues to evolve, Alien Worlds' venture into NFT-based comics exemplifies the innovative intersections between storytelling, technology, and gaming, laying the groundwork for a dynamic and immersive future in the web3 gaming landscape.
