In Mewgenics, classes define how each cat performs in battle. Most of them fall into clear roles such as damage dealer, support, tank, or utility. Understanding those roles matters more than memorizing every skill, especially in longer runs where fights turn into slow wars of attrition.

Early on, team balance is more important than experimentation. Later, once more areas are cleared and new classes are unlocked, players can lean into stronger synergies and flexible builds.

All Cat Classes & How to Unlock Them

Below is a complete list of all classes in Mewgenics, including how to unlock them and their base stat bonuses.

Best Early Team Setup

At the start of the game, a safe and consistent team usually includes:

  • Fighter

  • Hunter

  • Cleric

  • Tank

This setup provides melee damage, ranged damage, healing, and durability. It works well for most early areas and reduces risk during longer encounters.

How Team Builds Change Later

As more classes are unlocked and better gear becomes available, Tanks become less mandatory. Damage and flexibility start to matter more than pure durability.

In later runs, players often swap the Tank slot for a Necromancer or Monk. Necromancers are strong in drawn-out fights thanks to summons and life drain, while Monks offer flexibility depending on enemy types and area hazards.

The key is adjusting to the area. Some zones favor sustain and control, while others reward aggressive damage setups.

To unlock every class in Mewgenics, players need to clear each major area at least once and consistently talk to Butch afterward. Progression through zones directly ties into class variety, so pushing deeper into the game naturally expands team-building options.

Instead of trying to unlock everything at once, it helps to focus on stable runs with balanced teams. Once the Cleric and Necromancer are available, overall run consistency improves significantly.
