Marvel Rivals Season 4 Tierlist: Meta Heroes for Ranked Play

Master Season 4s meta with expert tier rankings for every hero. Discover which Vanguards, Duelists, and Strategists dominate matches.

Season 4 has completely reshuffled Marvel Rivals competitive landscape. With Angela's arrival as the newest Vanguard and significant balance changes across the roster, understanding the current meta is crucial for climbing ranked matches. This comprehensive tier list breaks down every hero's viability in the current meta, helping you make informed picks that actually win games.

Marvel Rivals Season 4 Tierlist: Meta Heroes for Ranked Play

S-Tier

  • Phoenix – The most broken duelist right now. She’s somehow the best melee and the best hitscan. If you aren’t playing Phoenix, you’re handicapping yourself.
  • Human Torch – Nothing changed, but he’s still insane. Damage output and consistency make him one of the strongest DPS choices.
  • Emma Frost – Still the queen of tanks. Even with nerfs, she dominates due to her insane shield utility and team presence. She warps the meta around herself.
  • Magneto – No nerfs in Season 4, which is wild considering his ability to one-shot 275 HP heroes. He remains an oppressive but necessary anchor tank.
  • Mantis – The ultimate enabler. She buffs, heals, and fuels momentum. Arguably the most important strategist in the game.
  • Luna – Still busted despite ult duration nerfs. Damage and utility remain unmatched.
  • Ultron – A surprising powerhouse this season. High damage for a strategist and flexible ult use.

A-Tier

  • Psylocke – Still incredible even after her right-click nerf. Works beautifully in dive comps with Cap or Hulk.
  • Star-Lord – High-speed, high-momentum duelist. Can slot into comps if Psylocke is banned.
  • Winter Soldier – His buffs made him scary. Displacement on shift adds big playmaking value.
  • Doctor Strange – Buffed cooldowns on Maelstrom of Madness make him much harder to anti-heal. A strong pick for any comp, but overshadowed by Emma’s presence.
  • Hulk – High skill ceiling. In the right hands, Hulk is devastating, especially paired with Namor’s Gamma Squid team-up.
  • Captain America – Reliable as ever. Even with small nerfs, Cap is excellent for stall and dive comps.
  • Adam Warlock – Solid pick with healing and damage. Could flirt with S tier in the right comps.
  • Loki – Nerfed but still strong thanks to his runes. The backbone of many comps.
  • Invisible Woman – Buffs brought her up. Great displacement and tempo tools.

B-Tier

  • Hela – Once terrifying, now overshadowed by Phoenix comps. Can still get picks, but struggles against triple strategist setups.
  • Iron Fist – Only works in dive-heavy comps, otherwise folds.
  • Moon Knight – Great at shredding tank-heavy comps but limited flexibility.
  • Punisher – Burst DPS is still strong, but needs Magneto banned to truly shine.
  • Wolverine – Effective but risky. Winter Soldier is usually the safer option.
  • Magic – Piercing right-click changes help, but still sits in the “good but not great” bracket.
  • Namor – A strong flanker, especially with Hulk synergy.
  • Groot – Annoying to deal with when paired with strong healers like Mantis. Still bullied by DPS like Wolverine and Punisher.
  • Venom – Can be terrifying in structured team play, but inconsistent in solo ranked. Needs bans (like Punisher/Wolverine) to shine.
  • Cloak & Dagger – Strong utility but less impactful than Invis.
  • Jeff – Surprisingly viable in triple strategist setups. Flexible but not meta-defining.

C-Tier

  • Black Widow – Insanely strong if mastered, but almost nobody plays her to potential.
  • Penny – Rarely picked, clunky ult, requires rework.
  • Thing – Has his uses against dive or on convoy maps, but otherwise too situational.
  • Rocket Raccoon – Only useful in goats (3 Vanguard + 3 Strategist) or as a stall pick.

D-Tier

  • Thor – Buffs didn’t fix his selfish design. Without a team-shielding tool, he’s awkward compared to other tanks.
  • Squirrel Girl – Works on tight corridor maps, but otherwise forgettable.
  • Blade – Buffs help, but still middling.
  • Angela – The flashy new Vanguard, but underwhelming. Low HP and tons of hard counters make her niche at best.

F-Tier

  • Hawkeye – Fun, but overshadowed by almost every other ranged DPS.
  • Iron Man – Hard fall from grace after nerfs.
  • Scarlet Witch – Buffs aren’t enough to matter.
  • Spider-Man – Picked only for meme-y pulls or last-second stall plays.
  • Mr. Fantastic – Almost never viable.

Final Thoughts

Marvel Rivals Season 4 rewards teams that commit to the meta-defining heroes. If you want consistent results, focus on building comps around Emma Frost, Magneto, Phoenix, Torch, Mantis, and Luna. Other heroes have their place, but the gap between the top tier and everyone else is wider than ever.

This is still early in the season, so balance patches may shift things, but for now the hierarchy is clear. Play the best, or risk being left behind.
