Collecting the correct inks is a required step for crafting Master Spinjitzu Scrolls in LEGO Fortnite: Odyssey. Each Epic ink type is tied to a specific element and can only be obtained from certain locations or progression points. If you are missing even one ink type, you will be locked out of high-tier Spinjitzu crafting.
This guide explains where to find every Epic ink, how shrine locations work, and what to expect at each location so you can farm efficiently and avoid unnecessary deaths.
What Are Ink Types and Why Do You Need Them?
Ink serves as the cornerstone ingredient for crafting Master Spinjitzu Scrolls, the highest-tier elemental abilities in the Ninjago update. You'll encounter three primary ink varieties: Epic Ice Ink, Epic Lightning Ink, and Epic Earth Ink. Each corresponds to a specific elemental power and requires different collection strategies.
The star rating system determines ink quality, with higher-rated shrines dropping more powerful variants. You'll need these premium inks to unlock the full potential of your elemental arsenal and progress through the most challenging Ninjago questlines.
Important
Epic-tier inks are essential for end-game progression. Lower-tier inks won't suffice for Master Spinjitzu Scroll crafting.

All Ink Types and Locations
There are three Epic ink types used in Ninjago content. Each one is tied to an element and has a specific source.
Only Epic-tier inks are valid for Master Spinjitzu Scroll crafting. Lower-tier inks from weaker shrines are not sufficient.
Where to Find Ice Ink
Epic Ice Ink comes from high-level Ice Shrines scattered across the Ninjago region. These shrines are marked with blue icons on the map and display a star rating that reflects both difficulty and reward quality.
Look for level 7 shrines marked with ice symbols on your world map. These locations guarantee Epic Ice Ink drops but present significant combat challenges. Each shrine contains:
- Two betrayed ninja masters
- One powerful elephant bear (primary threat)
- Protective barriers that activate during combat
The elephant bear serves as the main obstacle. Focus your attacks on this creature while maintaining distance from the ninja masters. Once you eliminate the bear, the shrine's protective barrier deactivates, allowing interaction with the central mechanism.
How to Get Lightning Ink
Epic Lightning Ink follows the same system as Ice Ink but is tied to Lightning Shrines instead. These appear as yellow or gold markers on the map and also rely on star ratings for reward quality.
Lightning shrines present unique challenges due to the electrical nature of their guardians. The combat strategy remains consistent with ice shrines, but you'll face different elemental attacks:
- Lightning-based damage from shrine guardians
- Electrical area effects around the shrine perimeter
- Enhanced bear abilities with lightning augmentation
Tip
Bring fire-element weapons to counter lightning shrines effectively. The elemental advantage significantly reduces combat difficulty.
How to Get Earth Ink
Epic Earth Ink is handled slightly differently from the other two elements. Your first supply of Epic Earth Ink is earned naturally by progressing the main Ninjago questline and reaching the Earth Sanctum. This is guaranteed and cannot be missed if you follow the story. However, story rewards alone are not enough if you plan to craft multiple Master Spinjitzu Scrolls.
For extra Earth Ink, you will need to farm Earth Shrines, marked with brown or green icons. These shrines function identically to Ice and Lightning shrines but feature enemies with heavier defenses and slower, more deliberate attacks.
Earth shrine elephant bears favor ground slams and area denial rather than speed. The fights take longer, but they are more predictable once you learn the patterns.
Shrine Reset Mechanics and Farming Routes
One of the most important systems to understand is that shrines reset after a set time. This allows repeated farming of Epic inks, which is essential for crafting multiple scrolls or supporting a group.
The most efficient way to farm is to mark several Level 7 shrines on your map and rotate between them as they reset. Attempting to brute-force one shrine repeatedly is far less efficient than running a loop.
Warning
Level 7 shrines require substantial gear upgrades. Attempting these encounters with basic equipment results in quick elimination.

Shrine locations on world map
Remember that Epic inks unlock the most powerful abilities in the Ninjago update. Your investment in collection efficiency pays dividends through enhanced combat capabilities and access to exclusive content areas. Master these collection techniques, and you'll dominate every elemental challenge the Ninjago world presents.
