Hytale Guide: Mithril Ore Best Farming Locations

Mithril Ore is one of the most sought-after resources in Hytale and sits firmly at the top of the current ore progression. Players looking to craft high-tier gear will eventually need Mithril, but finding it is not as simple as mining Copper or Thorium. Mithril is tied to late-game zones, dangerous environments, and specific farming methods that require preparation.

Best Mithril Ore Farming Location

Mithril Ore spawns underground in Zone 4, also known as the Devastated Lands. This zone is designed for advanced players and features hostile enemies, environmental hazards, and extreme terrain.

Volcanic Biomes

The most reliable Mithril farming location is within Zone 4’s volcanic regions, often referred to as the Cinder Wastes. These areas are marked by dark purple terrain on the map and are heavily associated with lava, fire-based enemies, and deep cave systems.

Mithril veins generate deep underground, commonly near lava pools or embedded in cave walls close to molten areas. The ore does not spawn on the surface, so underground exploration is required every time.

Tundra Caves

Mithril can also appear deep beneath tundra regions within Zone 4. These spawns are far less consistent than volcanic areas and are best treated as a backup option rather than a primary farming route.

Players exploring tundra caves may occasionally find Mithril, but the time investment compared to volcanic mining usually makes this method less efficient.

How to Get Mithril Ore Safely

Mining Mithril is dangerous due to where it spawns. Many veins appear directly above lava or in narrow cave sections filled with enemies.

Before farming, players should bring a strong pickaxe, combat-ready armor, healing items, torches, and building blocks. Building temporary platforms is often necessary to safely reach Mithril blocks positioned over lava.

It is recommended to mark paths clearly when mining in Zone 4. Cave systems are large and easy to get lost in, especially during long mining sessions.

Alternative Method: Boss Drops

The Burnt Skeleton Praetorian is a powerful Zone 4 enemy found in volcanic regions. It typically patrols with smaller skeleton units and is easily identified by its bronze armor and horned helmet.

Possible drops include:

  • Mithril Ingots

  • Thorium Ingots

  • Rare gear

  • High-tier crafting components

While Mithril Ingots are not guaranteed, this method skips the smelting process entirely, making it a valuable alternative for well-equipped players.

How to get Mithril Ingots

Mithril Ore must be smelted before it can be used for crafting. The process is straightforward.

Players need a Furnace and a fuel source such as Coal or Charcoal. Each Mithril Ore smelts into one Mithril Ingot. The smelting process works the same way as lower-tier ores, but acquiring the ore itself requires far more effort.

Some late-game chests may contain Mithril Ingots, but this should not be relied on as a primary method.
