Master Hornets combat with the Crest of Wanderer - discover its location, unlock requirements, and optimize your build strategy.
Looking to diversify Hornet's combat arsenal in Hollow Knight: Silksong? The Crest of Wanderer transforms your playstyle with faster attacks and unique movement mechanics. This early-game equipment piece requires strategic exploration across multiple regions, but the payoff makes it worth every step of the journey.
The Crest of Wanderer reshapes combat by trading reach for speed and mobility, making it ideal for players who prefer fast, hit-and-run tactics. Compared to the Hunter Crest, which emphasizes extended range and predictable attack patterns, the Wanderer version pushes your fighting style toward quicker, more fluid encounters. Attacks become significantly faster, aerial down slashes shift to a modified movement, and dash attacks gain altered mechanics that open up fresh offensive options.
While the reduced range requires you to get closer to enemies, the heightened attack speed more than compensates by letting you chain multiple strikes before foes can react. This crest rewards a mobile playstyle, where you weave in and out of danger, capitalize on enemy openings, and overwhelm slower opponents with rapid, precise attacks.
Before hunting down this crest, you'll need several key items and abilities unlocked through natural progression.
Required Abilities:
Alongside these abilities, you will need to collect 500 rosaries. This currency is necessary to purchase the Simple Key from Pebb, who resides in Bone Bottom. Without this key, progression to the crest location will not be possible.
Where to Go First in Silksong
Start by purchasing the Simple Key from Pebb in Bone Bottom for 500 rosaries. Take the elevator from Bone Bottom back up to Mossome, then make your way to the western edge of the area. From the room above the elevator, use the Sprint ability to cross over the hanging cages and continue west.
Keep sprinting through the next chamber to safely bypass the puking bug. Its attack pattern is slow and predictable, so steady movement will carry you past without harm. Once clear, use your Simple Key to unlock the western passage into the Wormways. From here, drop into the first pit you encounter to progress deeper.
Follow the winding tunnels downward until you can go no further, then exit to the right into a moss-covered chamber. Drop carefully into the pool of water at the bottom and head left to discover the hut entrance. Inside, you will find several enemies positioned throughout the structure. Clear them out methodically, using aerial strikes and hit-and-run tactics to keep control of the fight. Avoid rushing through, since grouped enemies can overwhelm you if you advance recklessly. Once you reach the bottom floor of the hut, you can finally claim the Crest of Wanderer.
