The Cyborgs are back in Helldivers 2, bringing three new enemy types to the Automaton front. These units show up mainly on Cyberstan and change how players approach bot missions. Here's everything you need to know about identifying, engaging, and eliminating these threats.
What Makes the New Cyborg Units Different?
Cyborg enemies do not behave like standard Automatons. Instead of relying only on numbers and suppressive fire, they mix speed, command abilities, and heavy armor into normal missions. Unlike some boss enemies, Cyborg units can appear during regular Bot Drops, meaning players can run into them at almost any point during an operation.
Radicals and Agitators often appear alongside normal bots, while the Vox Engine is tied to Megafactory missions. Because of this, running a loadout built only for basic Automatons can quickly become a problem.
How Do You Counter Radicals?
Radicals are fast and aggressive shock troops. They trade armor for speed and close-range damage, making them dangerous if they get too close.
They rush straight toward players while firing arm-mounted weapons and will use powerful kicks once in melee range. Their armor is light, but they can take more damage than basic bots.
The best way to handle Radicals is to keep distance. Medium to long range is where players have the advantage. Focus fire drops them quickly, and there is no need to use Anti-Tank weapons on them.
At close range, they become a serious threat, so backing off and repositioning is usually the safest move.

What Agitators Do on the Battlefield
Agitators act as field commanders. They are tougher than most Automatons and directly improve how nearby enemies fight. Leaving them alive makes every encounter harder than it needs to be.
They use an armor system where their plating can be shot off first, exposing weaker areas underneath. Once the armor is gone, they fall much faster.
Because Agitators coordinate surrounding bots, they should usually be taken out before anything else in the area. Removing them breaks enemy momentum and gives the squad more breathing room.

How to Destroy the Vox Engine
The Vox Engine is the most dangerous Cyborg unit so far. It is a massive tank found in Megafactory missions, armed with heavy laser cannons and additional weapons on its treads.
Standard weapons will not do much to its main body. Players need Anti-Tank fire to deal real damage. The good news is that it has weak points. Glowing armor sections and the underside can be damaged more easily, and the miniguns on the treads can be destroyed to reduce its firepower.
Fighting the Vox Engine works best with teamwork. One player can draw its attention while others focus on weak spots. Using Thermite grenades or coordinated Anti-Tank shots speeds up the fight and saves resources.

What Loadouts Work Best Against Cyborgs?
Adapting your equipment for Cyborg encounters requires balancing armor penetration with sustained damage output. The diversity of these three unit types means you'll need versatile weapon selections.
Essential Equipment
Primary Weapons:
- Medium armor penetration for Agitator plating removal
- High rate of fire for Radical suppression
- Anti-Tank capability for Vox Engine engagement
Stratagems:
- Thermite grenades for Vox Engine weakspot damage
- Area denial tools for Radical crowd control
- Support weapons with armor penetration options

How Cyborgs Spawn in Missions
Cyborg units are woven into normal Automaton mission flow. Radicals and Agitators can arrive in Bot Drops, patrol with standard units, or show up during alarms.
The Vox Engine is limited to Megafactory missions but can still appear as part of reinforcements rather than a single scripted encounter. Its propaganda broadcasts act as an audio warning, giving players time to prepare if they pay attention.
The return of Cyborgs signals a shift in how Automaton missions play out in Helldivers 2. Learning to identify these units quickly, understanding armor mechanics, and reacting to audio cues will likely matter even more as future updates expand the enemy roster.
Players who adapt now will be better prepared for whatever new threats show up on Cyberstan and beyond.
