The Old Gods New Blood update is a major content drop for Deadlock that focuses on expanding the hero roster, introducing a new fast-paced game mode, and improving clarity across gameplay systems. It brings meaningful changes without overcomplicating the core experience, making it one of the most impactful updates so far.

Street Brawl Mode

Street Brawl is a new 4v4 game mode built around short, intense matches. Instead of long-form progression, matches are played as a best-of-five series where each round lasts only a couple of minutes. Every round starts with equal resources for all players, removing farming and snowballing from the equation.

Before each round, players select three items from a randomized pool. This keeps matches unpredictable and shifts the focus toward quick decision-making, mechanical skill, and adapting to limited loadouts. Street Brawl is clearly designed for players who want faster games or a lower-commitment way to play Deadlock.

Six New Heroes Join the Roster

The update introduces six new heroes, released in waves of two per week starting January 26. These heroes expand the roster with new playstyles and team compositions.

New Hero List:

  • Silver

  • Rem

  • Graves

  • Apollo

  • Celeste

  • Venator

Each hero release is supported by new selection tools and voting systems to help players access and test them more reliably. While detailed ability breakdowns are not included yet, these heroes are designed to integrate into both Standard matches and Street Brawl.

New Patrons and Core Map Updates

Two new Patrons replace the previous in-game models:

  • The Hidden King

  • The Archmother

These Patrons now feature objective health bars, allowing players to clearly track objective progress during matches.

The update also improves audio feedback with new Patron voice lines, helping major map events feel clearer and more readable during gameplay, especially in late-game situations.

New Items Added

Two new items are introduced in this update, each focused on ability and weapon synergy.

Ballistic Enchantment

  • Imbues an ability with increased range

  • Dealing damage with the imbued ability grants increased weapon damage

  • Scales per target hit

This item rewards ability accuracy and multi-target damage, making it effective for heroes that can reliably hit multiple enemies.

Recharging Rush

  • Dealing significant weapon damage replenishes charges for charged abilities

This item supports weapon-focused heroes who rely on ability charges, allowing for more frequent ability usage during sustained fights.

In-Game Sprays

A new Spray feature allows players to display support for upcoming heroes during matches. Sprays are cosmetic but can influence social interaction and voting behavior during games.

Revamped Postgame Experience

The postgame experience has been fully updated to provide clearer and more useful match breakdowns.

  • New MVP scoring system based on in-match performance

  • Expanded postgame summaries with detailed stat breakdowns

  • Updated scoreboard layout for improved readability

  • Clearer performance tracking across multiple roles and metrics

These changes make it easier for players to review matches and understand their individual impact.
