Introduction

Chronos: Dawn of Time is a 2D action RPG set in a post-apocalyptic world where players must face the evil foe and build their own village in order to progress through the game. The game has various gameplay mechanics such as upgrades, building, crafting, and social interactions. Players can choose to develop their character according to their preferred playstyle by leveling up various attributes and installing implants. The ability to customize one's character according to their preferred playstyle should provide players with plenty of replay value.

It is set in a post-apocalyptic world that is vibrant and beautiful. The colors pop and the art style is unique. Fans of Terraria will get a lot of joy out of the landscape as it is very familiar to what they are used to in that game. Caves offer an eerie and dark atmosphere to get you checking all over to make sure you killed all the mobs. The caves add much depth to the world and show the opposite of what the outside world holds.

Gameplay

Chronos: Dawn of Time offers a wide range of gameplay mechanics that should appeal to both casual and veteran gamers. Players can choose to focus on combat or platforming, and the game's skill tree allows players to customize their character according to their preferred playstyle. Whether you want to build an agile agent or a fierce wizard, Chronos: Dawn of Time provides the tools to do so. You can edit your strength, defense, dexterity, agility, intelligence, and endurance, so you have a lot of freedom to allocate skill points however you like. 

It is a PvE PVP game with deep caves that offer a wide variety of loot during exploration. The combat system is fluid and provides fun-to-learn and easy-to-use battle mechanics that anyone can get used to. There is a diverse selection of weapons and skills that you can use to defeat your foes. Ranging from a stick to grenades to a magical staff that has 3 different kinds of spells on it.

You travel through the dungeon that in the future will be procedurally generated to offer evolution to all the caves that you explore all whilst you fight mobs such as slimes and skeletons and look for chests that contain amazing loot inside of them. This gameplay mechanic ensures that almost no two gameplay sessions are the same, and keeps you coming back for more.

Although the gameplay is phenomenal in many ways there are a few drawbacks to the game that will most likely get addressed in future updates. The weapons need more balancing; it felt like the revolver in particular didn’t do as much damage compared to the elemental staff. In fairness, though, I wasn't hitting the timed shots perfectly. They want to use any other weapon besides the one staff isn’t there and I feel with some balancing that can be easily diminished.

Review

Chronos: Dawn of Time is an exceptionally fun game that tosses players into a vibrant and beautiful yet scary world that offers a lot to the user from NPCs wearing masks to skeletons that try to gut you alive. The game's early beta is set to release on December 29th with all of the features implemented including the PvE and PVP modes as well as proximity chat when you are exploring to chat with the other users.

Sphere Studios is a small team and has done a tremendous job at making the beta have enough features to keep you entertained for hours, between the PvE mode and the vast amounts of dungeons and loot that you can find, in the extremely addicting PVP mode, there is no reason for you to put the game down even an hour into it. 

It is also something that can be run on most if not all PCs as well as the fact it's coming to mobile soon and that provides vast amounts of accessibility to it which benefits the game to have even more users. Chronos is a fun and immersive game with a unique post-apocalyptic setting and a range of gameplay mechanics that provide plenty of replay value. 

The use of NFTs to support a real in-game economy and the ability to customize one's character according to their preferred playstyle are interesting features that add depth and complexity to the game. The caves, filled with mobs and chests, provide a sense of exploration and discovery as the player journey through the game, Overall, Chronos is a well-rounded game that offers something for both casual and veteran players. The beta version has enough features to keep you entertained for hours with its combination of PvE and PVP gameplay. 

While it is a shame that dungeons are not yet procedurally generated and the lack of a tutorial may make it hard for some players to know how to start there are minor issues that should not detract from the overall enjoyment of the game.
