Blockchain Brawlers Guide: Starter Tips Before Your First Game

A comprehensive guide on How to Play Blockchain Brawlers with everything you need to know before jumping into the ring to pin your first enemy.

Blockchain Brawlers is a collectible card game played in PVP mode where players compete against each other using a combination of strategy and luck. The goal of Tyranno Studios is to make it the world's most user-friendly and accessible game. Players can play and transact on the blockchain and marketplace of their choice for a seamless experience, with the blockchain element not affecting gameplay. To get started, you will need the following:

  1. A Wax Cloud Wallet account.
  2. 11 Cards, including Number Cards 1-8, 1 Attack, 1 Taunt, and 1 Finisher. These cards can be purchased from your preferred WAX marketplace, such as Atomic Hub or vIRL Market, or you can buy them in our Starter Packs.
  3. One Brawler, which is a character that you will control in the game. We suggest starting with Mike Yellerbelly, but any Brawler will work. You can purchase Brawlers from vIRL Market, Atomic Hub, or any WAX Marketplace. Starter Packs also include a Brawler.

OPTIONAL: $BRWL Tokens for some rooms, you will need $BRWL tokens as an entry fee to compete.

How to Play PvP Mode

MATCH BASICS A match in Blockchain Brawlers consists of individual rounds where players play two cards each. The rounds continue until one player wins the match by depleting the other player's health to zero. To win a round, the total value of the two cards you play must be higher than the value of your opponent's two cards. When you win a round, your Brawler executes a move that damages your opponent and decreases their health.

  1. Health: Both Brawlers start the match with 25 health points. The first Brawler to lose all 25 health points loses the match.
  2. Power Meter: Your Power Meter starts at 1 and increases every time you win a round. If you lose a round, your Power Meter resets to 1.
  3. Your Hand: At the start of the match, each player is dealt three cards, and the number of cards in your hand can increase up to six as the match progresses. You must choose two cards from your hand to play in each round.
  4. The Deck: The deck consists of 32 cards, with four of each numbered card, and all unused cards are reshuffled after each round.
  5. Set Up Card: The first card you choose to play in a round is called the Set Up Card and is visible to your opponent.
  6. Slam Card: The second card you choose to play is called the Slam Card and is hidden from your opponent.

Combat During Rounds

  1. Card Selection: At the start of each round, you choose two cards from your hand to play.
  2. Setting Damage Multiplier: You set your Damage Multiplier to 1, 2, or 3 based on the strength of your hand and the perceived strength of your opponent's hand. If your opponent's Damage Multiplier is higher, you must either fold or match their number.
  3. Showdown Standard: If both players have the same Damage Multiplier, it's time for the Showdown. The hidden Slam Cards are revealed, and the player whose total card value is higher wins the round and damages their opponent.
  4. Showdown Flexing: If your Set Up Card has a higher value than your Slam Card, this is called a Flex. The goal of a Flex is to intimidate your opponent into folding. However, there is a higher risk of losing the round when you Flex. If your opponent folds, you inflict double damage (Power Meter Score x 2). If your opponent does not fold, you automatically lose the round.

Flexing is when your face-up Set Up Card is of a higher value than your face-down Slam Card. The goal is to get your opponent to fold, intimidated by the first card you show. Flexing offers both risks and rewards. Your chance of losing the round is higher when you Flex, but you also deliver a higher damage bonus if you win the round. Here are the different outcomes from a round involving a Flex:

  1. If you Flex and your opponent folds, the damage you inflict is equal to your Power Meter Score x 2.
  2. If you Flex and your opponent does not Flex, you automatically lose the round.
  3. If both you and your opponent Flex, the outcome is determined by the higher card total. The winner will inflict damage equal to their Power Meter Score x Damage Multiplier.

If you don't think you will win the round, you have the option to fold. When you fold, you won't lose any points from your Power Meter, and you will be dealt an extra card in the next round. There is a maximum of 6 cards that you can hold in your hand. If you fold beyond this limit, you will be asked to discard a card(s) that will be shuffled back into the deck.

Damage Calculation and Match Endings

  1. In a Showdown, the winner will inflict damage equal to their Power Meter x Damage Multiplier.
  2. If a player folds, the winner will inflict damage equal to their Power Meter only.
  3. In the case of a Flex, see the Flexing section.
  4. If a round ends in a tie, both players will inflict full damage on each other, and both players' Power Meters will reset to 1.
  5. If both players have negative health at the end of the match, the winner is determined by the player closest to 0 health.
  6. If both players have identical negative health, the match ends in a draw.

Special Tactics: Playing a 1 or 3 Card: You can choose to play either a 1 card or a 3 card, which are low cards with a higher risk but also 2X the potential reward. If you win the round using a 1 or 3 card, your Power Meter will increase an additional 2 points for each 1 or 3 played that round.

More Strategy Tips

  1. Always keep in mind that the highest card value is an 8. Knowing your opponent's Set Up Card will help you determine their highest possible total and inform your damage multiplier or folding strategy.
  2. Folding is a legitimate strategy and can be key to success. When you fold, you won't lose any points from your Power Meter and will be dealt an extra card in the next round.
  3. The more cards you have in your hand, the more strategic options you have for the two cards to play in a round.
  4. Try to increase your Power Meter, as it becomes more important in later rounds. Power Meters can be increased by playing 1s and 3s, winning rounds, and losing rounds resets your Power Meter to 1.

Blockchain Brawlers offers a unique and exciting strategy card game that offers players the opportunity to engage in intense battles with their opponents. By following the steps outlined in this guide, you can easily get started playing PVP mode and start battling your way to victory. Whether you prefer to use a Flex strategy or to play it safe, there's something for everyone in Blockchain Brawlers. So, grab your cards, select your Brawler, and get ready for a wild and thrilling ride!
