Overview

After shutting down Aurory Tactics, the team shifted their full focus on crafting a high-quality, immersive RPG that would push the boundaries of Web3 gaming. The Aurory Seekers of Tokane, a rogue-lite turn-based JRPG set in a beautifully designed fantasy world filled with mysterious creatures called Nefties. Unlike its predecessor, which was purely PvP, this game expands into a rich PvE experience, letting players explore, battle, and collect Nefties while taking risks for greater rewards.

Set in the world of Tokane, players take on the role of Seekers, adventurers who travel through Everlasting Lands in search of powerful Nefties. These creatures are essential for survival, as every encounter leads to turn-based strategic battles where skill and planning make all the difference. The game’s core mechanics revolve around risk versus reward, challenging players to push deeper for better loot while knowing that losing means forfeiting everything collected during a run.

Gameplay

Your journey in Aurory Seekers of Tokane starts with creating your avatar. It’s a simple setup, but it gives you a bit of customization before diving into the adventure. Once that’s done, you spawn in Blanche Village, which serves as your home base. This is where you prepare before heading out to explore and find Nefties.

The billboard in the village is your go-to guide. It helps you understand the basics of the game and gives you a rundown of what you need to do. If you ever feel lost, checking the billboard is a good place to start.

Before heading out, you need a Neftie, your battle companion. You get your first one by hatching a starter egg in the incubator at Blanche Village. Once that’s settled, find the Portal that will lead you into Everlasting Lands, where you hunt for Nefties, battle them, and collect eggs to expand your squad.

Entering Everlasting Lands

This part feels like an extraction mode. You choose a map, select three Nefties for your team, and if it’s your first time, you start with a tutorial. The goal is simple. Defeat as many Nefties as possible, grab rewards, and make it out in one piece.

Nefties roam the map and will charge at you the moment they spot you. This triggers Battle Mode, which is turn-based combat where strategy is key. You can’t just spam attacks and hope for the best. Predicting your opponent’s next move is what makes this system fun. You have to decide whether to attack, defend, or set up a strategy based on what your opponent might do next.

Winning battles gives you rewards like Neftie eggs, chest eggs filled with consumables, and crystals. The tricky part is making it to an Exit Portal before your Nefties are wiped out. If they faint before you get there, you lose all the rewards you collected.

To help with navigation, you have a compass that guides you to the Exit Portal. The catch is that you can only use it three times per map. Once you reach the portal, you have a choice. You can extract safely and return to Blanche Village, which heals all your Nefties, or you can risk it and move to a harder area for better rewards. It’s a high-risk, high-reward system that keeps things exciting.

Leveling Up Nefties

Leveling up Nefties is where the grind starts. To level up, you need three Nefties of the same level to fuse into a stronger one. The downside is that you can’t do this inside the game yet. You have to visit the website to manually level them up. While this adds a long-term progression system, constantly grinding eggs and leveling up might feel repetitive over time. Hopefully, future updates will introduce new ways to keep things interesting.

PvP Battles

PvP battles are intense, but they can take too long to finish. If both players have healing Nefties that keep throwing up shields, the match drags on forever. A mechanic that slowly reduces HP after too many rounds could help with this.

Matchmaking isn’t too bad, but it can feel unfair when your opponent’s Nefties completely counter yours. However, when the match is balanced, it all comes down to skill, strategy, and good decision-making, which makes every win feel rewarding.

Visually, the game is stunning. The fantasy-inspired world is beautifully designed, making it feel immersive and high-quality. The animations are smooth, and the sound design fits perfectly, adding to the excitement of battles.

The gameplay itself is solid, but players will need more in the long run. Right now, it revolves around collecting eggs and leveling up Nefties, which could become repetitive over time. Adding new mechanics, events, or challenges would keep things fresh. The foundation is already strong, and with the right updates, Seekers of Tokane could become a standout title in the Web3 gaming space.

Review

Aurory Seekers of Tokane brings a refreshing mix of exploration, strategy, and high-quality visuals. The game world is beautifully crafted, with a fantasy aesthetic that feels immersive, and the smooth animations make every action look polished. The combat system is a highlight, rewarding smart decision-making over brute force. Battles feel like a chess match, where predicting your opponent’s next move is the key to winning. It’s not just about spamming attacks but actually outplaying your opponent, which keeps things engaging.

The risk-reward system in Everlasting Lands is another great feature, making every run feel like a calculated gamble. Do you extract safely with your loot or push further for better rewards? This constant tension adds depth to the gameplay. However, progression can feel grindy, especially with the manual leveling system that forces you to use a website instead of handling it in-game. PvP battles, while intense, can sometimes drag on too long, especially when both sides rely on healing and shields. A mechanic to speed up fights or force a conclusion after too many turns would be a welcome improvement.

Overall, Seekers of Tokane has a solid foundation but still needs more variety to keep players engaged long-term. The gameplay loop is fun but could get repetitive, so future updates adding new mechanics or game modes would make a huge difference. Despite some minor frustrations, the game feels polished, strategic, and rewarding, making it one of the more promising Web3 RPGs. If the devs keep building on this momentum, it could easily become a standout in the genre.

Aurory: Seekers of Tokane Review

Aurory Seekers of Tokane is a visually stunning and engaging RPG that brings a fresh take on Web3 gaming with its strategic turn-based combat and risk-reward exploration. The gameplay is solid and rewarding, but the grindy progression and lengthy PvP battles could use some tweaking to keep things from feeling repetitive. The potential is undeniable, and if the devs keep adding new mechanics and refining the experience, this could easily become a standout Web3 game. For now, it’s a fun, polished, and promising adventure, but long-term player retention will depend on how well they expand and innovate from here.
