Corrupted tools are one of the biggest changes introduced in 99 Nights in the Forest Hard Mode. These weapons and armor pieces are designed specifically for dealing with corrupted enemies and surviving deeper into the forest.

They only exist during Hard Mode, and they disappear once the run ends. Because of that, knowing how they work and when to use them matters more than trying to save them.

What Are Corrupted Tools?

Corrupted tools are special weapons and armor covered in purple vines and roots. They deal more damage to corrupted enemies and offer better protection than standard gear.

These tools are not cosmetic upgrades. They are meant to help players handle the increased difficulty of Hard Mode, especially when dealing with corrupted animals and hostile trees.

Corrupted tools do not appear in normal mode. If Hard Mode is not active, they will not spawn.

Where to Find Corrupted Tools

Corrupted tools are found inside corrupted chests. These chests begin spawning once Hard Mode starts.

Corrupted chests:

  • Glow purple

  • Have a corrupted, vine-covered look

  • Spawn randomly across the forest

They are more likely to appear in heavily corrupted areas. The further players push into darker zones, the better their chances of finding one. There are no fixed locations, so exploration is required.

Because spawns are random, teamwork helps. Sharing chest locations allows groups to gear up faster.

All Corrupted Weapons and Armor

Corrupted Axe

The Corrupted Axe works like a normal axe but deals more damage to corrupted enemies. It is useful for both combat and gathering resources.

It does not require ammo, making it a reliable option throughout a run.

Corrupted Thrown Axe

The Corrupted Thrown Axe is one of the most useful corrupted weapons. It allows players to throw axes repeatedly with no ammo cost.

This makes it ideal for ranged combat and conserving supplies, especially during long fights.

Corrupted Revolver

The Corrupted Revolver offers accurate ranged damage and works well for picking off enemies from a distance.

It requires ammunition, so it is best used against stronger targets rather than basic enemies.

Corrupted Shotgun

The Corrupted Shotgun deals high damage at close range and is effective against groups of enemies.

It uses shotgun shells and burns through ammo quickly, but it is one of the strongest options for defensive situations.

Corrupted Armor

Corrupted Armor provides more protection than standard armor and helps players survive longer in corrupted zones.

Finding this early makes exploring dangerous areas much safer.

How to Use Corrupted Tools Effectively

Corrupted tools are meant to be used aggressively. Since they disappear when Hard Mode ends, there is no benefit to saving ammo or avoiding fights.

Players should match tools to situations. Thrown axes work well for general combat without worrying about ammo. Shotguns are best saved for close-range threats. Revolvers are useful for precise damage when enemies are still at a distance.

Corrupted armor should be prioritized early since staying alive longer increases the chance of finding more corrupted chests.

Corrupted tools change how Hard Mode is played in 99 Nights in the Forest. They give players the ability to fight back instead of just surviving.

They are powerful, but not permanent. Players who use them confidently, explore corrupted zones, and adapt their loadout will get the most value out of every Hard Mode run.

Used correctly, corrupted tools turn Hard Mode from a slow struggle into a more aggressive and controlled experience.
